Papa Smurf Papa Smurf is the leader of the smurfs. He's 542 years old, which makes him the 3rd oldest smurf behind Granpa and Nanny Smurf. Papa Smurf is an alchemist and has his own laboratory where he often creates potions and elixirs to help the smurfs in their adventures. Papa Smurf is easily recognisable by his red clothes and big white beard. Brainy Smurf Brainy Smurf is the second in command at the smurf village. He's known as the brains of the village, hence the name, but also as a bit of a know-it-all - which often gets him into a bit of trouble with other smurfs. Most smurfs find find annoying, due to his long lectures on things, but he does have one friend in the village who puts up with him, his best friend Clumsy Smurf. Hefty Smurf Hefty Smurf is the strongest of all the smurfs. He loves all sports and is often found lifting dumbbells or lifting Brainy Smurf... and then tossing him! Hefty believes in exercise and often encourages other smurfs to do so, also. He is best friends with Handy Smurf and often helps him out when Handy needs a bit of muscle on the job. Smurfette Smurfette is one of the few female smurfs in the smurf world. For a long while she was the only female smurf around, but eventually came Sasette and Nanny Smurf. She is distinguishable from the other smurfs by her long yellow hair, eyelashes and her white dress and white shoes. Nearly all the smurfs in smurf village have a huge crush on smurfette. There are many different versions of Smurfette to collect. Handy Smurf Handy Smurf is the Smurf which goes about fixing and inventing things in the Smurf Village. Handy is often seen going about with a tool in his hand and a toolbox by his side. Amongst Handy Smurfs invention are a Weather Controlling Machine and a Smurfmobile, but he's most famous for his invention of Clockwork Smurf. Gargamel Gargamel is an evil sorcerer and an enemy of the smurfs. He is mostly bald and goes around in a black outfit with big red boots. Unlike the smurfs, Gargamel is a person. Gargamel's main aim in life is to destroy the smurfs and he spends his times plotting and scheming new ways to get the little blue guys. His best friend is his cat, Azrael. Johan Johan (Smurf Friend) is a friend of the smurfs. Johan is the King's page and is often called to duty to defend the Kingdom with his trusty sword. Johan is often seen riding about on his horse, with his best friend, Pewit, riding by his side. Johan is most known amongst smurfs for his involvement in the Smurf and the Magic Flute. Pewit Pewit (Smurf Friend) is a friend of the smurfs. Pewit is a musician who plays the lute and sings. He is terrible at both instruments, though he thinks he's great. Clockwork Smurf Clockwork Smurf is a mechanical Smurf that was created by Handy Smurf. Clockwork Smurf is only able to communicate with lots of mechanical sounds and is unable to speak Smurfy language. Sassette Smurfling Sassette Smurfling was created by Nat, Slouchy and Snappy from the same blue clay that Gargamel used to create Smurfette. The Smurflings created Sassette so Smurfette would have another female Smurf to talk to. Upon her original creation, she was wild and nicknamed Sassy. The Smurflings live together in a house made from a tree stump and can often be seen playing with one another and causing trouble. They created their
own band, since they are not allowed to play in Brainy Smurf’s band because they are too young. Nat plays the washtub bass, Slouchy plays the saxophone
and Snappy plays the drums. Sassette can play the piano, but is not often seen playing with the band, as the band was created before she was.
